Last Tuesday, March 2nd was the 106th  birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss.  Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known to the world as the beloved Dr. Seuss, was born in 1904 on Howard Street in Springfield, Massachusetts.   His mother, Henrietta Seuss Geisel, often soothed her children to sleep by “chanting” rhymes remembered from her youth. Ted credited his mother with both his ability and desire to create the rhymes for which he became so well known.  So to celebrate his wonderful stories, we invited some of Woburn’s more famous readers to read some of their favorites to our students.  Thank you to Mr. Bob Doherty, grade five teacher for coordinating this year’s festivities!  (more famous faces will follow in the next post)!

Hello families,
A friendly note from Miss Kate in the office to call in if your child will be late or out (for any reason). If we don’t receive a call, we will first try to reach you. Our next step is to try emergency numbers. At that point, we would need to contact the school attendance officer for a home visit. Please help us keep track of all our students!
Thank you to our all-star jump ropers who raised just over $1000 for Heart Disease…Mr. Kessaris, our PE teacher coordinated this as part of his PE classes.

We are still reminding people to obey the following safety rules during drop-off and pick-up:
1. Please remember to tell alternate pick up folks that the line for pick-up is down Hudson and there is no parking on the left hand side of Hudson as that is our pick-up line.
2. In addition, please be aware that our pick up area is a bit congested. However, if all folks patiently wait in queue, our pick-up lasts only 6-7 minutes at the MOST.
3. Please remember that my staff are out there to keep traffic flowing and to keep all students safe. I truly thank everyone for following these very important rules that are designed to keep all of our students safe.

Thank you to our 5th grade teacher, Mr. Bob Doherty and the student council who organized our celebrity guest readers this week. We had an impressive collection of aldermen, school committee, Central Office personnel, Rep. Dwyer, and Mayor Galvin.
Mrs. McElhinney our librarian, is celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday! In honor of his birthday on March 2, she has set up a display in the main hallway leading down to the library. She has some of Dr. Seuss’ famous quotes up on the wall…please stop by and vote for your favorite (adults are welcomed to vote, too). Our winner will be announced in the April newsletter. Happy 106th Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!!

We are now starting to think about next year’s kindergarten. If you have a child entering next year or know of one, please call Miss Kate in the office with contact information.
