H1N1 Flu–Brief Update
The attached document was distributed at last night's School Committee meeting. While there is no substantial change to the information already distributed to parents, I thought it would be helpful to provide this update to anyone who is interested. (Adobe Reader or equivalent is necessary to read this document.)
November 3rd–Election Day
Although there has been some discussion on this topic, I want let everyone know that all schools will be open on November 3, Election Day. All students will follow their normal full-day schedule.
Open House: Elementary and Middle Schools
Reminder: On Wednesday evening, September 23, elementary schools will hold their annual open house programs for parents. On Thursday evening, both the Joyce and Kennedy Middle Schools will hold similar programs. These events provide an excellent opportunity to hear from your child's teachers and learn about the upcoming school year. Individual schools may vary their times slightly, so check the information sent from your child's school. We sincerely hope that you can find the time to attend.
Elementary Early-Release Day
This message is a reminder to our elementary school families. Tuesday, September 22, is an early-release day. Elementary students will be released from school at 12:30. Please make sure that you make arrangements for your child on that day.
H1N1 Information for Parents
Woburn Health Agent Jack Fralick, Public Health Nurse Karen DeCampo, and WPS Head Nurse Marcia Skeffington have been working with us to make sure we have the latest information on the H1N1 flu. It is sometimes difficult to sort through all of the information on this topic, but our health professionals continue to work on separating fact from fiction and making sure that our community is responding properly. This work will continue, and we'll keep you informed on this important matter.

Off to a Great Start

Mrs. Vasquezi welcome her new students to their new modular classroom at the Clapp-Goodyear School
On Tuesday, we welcomed back all of our teaching staff and today, more than 4500 students joined us for the start of the new school year. From all accounts, the first day of school began smoothly. As is always the case, there were some traffic issues as many parents accompanied their children on the first day of school. We want to thank all of our staff as well as the Woburn Police Department and our crossing guards for getting us all off to a great start.
