Souper Bowl of Caring
Announcing: The Souper Bowl of Caring!
Dear Parents,
Our school is proud to announce that we are participating in the 2012 Souper Bowl of Caring!
Souper Bowl of Caring uses the energy around our nation’s biggest sporting event to mobilize and inspire youth to fight hunger and poverty. Students develop a stronger connection to their communities as they collect food and raise money for charities that provide shelter to the homeless, food to the hungry and compassion to those in need.
During this event, students will take up a collection and give 100% of our donations to the Council of Social Concern here in Woburn. We will report our total to Souper Bowl of Caring so our students become part of working together to make a difference in the lives of others.
Help us make this year’s goals a reality as we strive for 100% participation. Let’s give every student the benefit of this positive learning experience!
Our collection will take place from January 27th to February 3rd, the Friday before the big game!
We will collect food (especially soup!) and monetary donations (make check payable to Council of Social Concern Food Pantry).
Thank you for doing your part to make our 2012 Souper Bowl of Caring a success!

Wyman School News
NEWS AND INFORMATION - I hope you all enjoyed the few inches of snow that fell this weekend! It was the perfect amount of snow to play in especially since it will melt away in a couple of days. It is so much easier to enjoy the snow when we don’t have to worry about getting to school safely and on time.
Several days a week, we have parent volunteers that answer the phone in the office from 12:30 – 1:30 pm. Please keep this in mind when calling the school during that time. Also, if you are interested in helping, please call the office.
Also please remember that Friday, February 3rd is an early release day. The children will be dismissed at 12:30 pm following lunch.
If you or someone you know someone has a Kindergarten age child (5 years old by September 1, 2012) that will be coming to the Wyman School, please call the school office at 781 927-8243 and let them know your child will be registering. Kindergarten Registration will be on Wednesday, March 7, 2012.
Governor Deval Patrick has designated January 25th as “No Name Calling Day” in Massachusetts. To help us recognize the day, we are encouraging students to wear black on January 25th as sign of their commitment to “Black Out Bullying”. They will also have the opportunity to sign a banner that reads “I pledge to take a stand against bullying and name calling.”
The Wyman School will be having a Talent Show! (This will be instead of the Poetry Showcase.) We are inviting Wyman students as individuals or groups to share their talent! Talents may include reciting a poem, playing a song on an instrument, singing a song, or any other interesting talent you would like to share. The Talent Show will be on Friday, March 2nd at 7 pm in the Kennedy Middle School Auditorium. Please look for more information about auditions and a permission form that will be coming home this week.
PTO NEWS - Please clip BoxTops and place them in to the appropriate green bin located on the shelves outside of the main office. Every BoxTop is worth 10 cents. In the same location, you can turn in used ink cartridges, Campbells soup labels, aluminum can flip top tabs, and old eyeglasses.
